The humblest mortals often leave the
world the richest, legacies.
Raymond Ready is the latest re
cruit to the office orderly brigade.
Neva Souvigner is thinking of attend
ing college after she leaves - here.

makes her way wherever she goes."
"Kind words are the ready change by
which a man pays his way to success."
New steps have been placed at both
of the east entrances to the dining .hall.
Misses Bender and Nerod, of the office
force, spent Wednesday night in Salem.
Mr. Larsen made large demands on all
available boys for service at the commis
sary yesterday morning.
Mr. George Wellfeldt is now engaged
at Chemawa. as painter and is as busy
as the proverbial little bee.
The farmers were busy yesterday at
the task of hauling supplies from the
car on the S. P. track to the commis
sary. Moses Alvarado had a detail of boys
all to himself yesterday and gave them
some vigorous athletic drill on the
lawns.
Harry Queachpalma was in charge of
the garden detail ..while Mr. Westley was
in charge of the boys working at olfe's
hop yard.
Reports have reached the school to
the effect that since going home the
health of Helen Dillstrom has greatly
improved.
The boys who wern working at Wolfe's
hop yard cuttiug runners finished on
Tuesday and returned to Chemawa on
Wednesday.
Elmer Henry, John Mllier and Jacob
Scott were employed for a period yester
day morning repairing some hydrants
on the lawns.
Minerva, Chester, and Frazier Mecum,
George Baker, George Wason, and Dora
Goodman left for their homes in South
ern Oregon, on Wednesday. ,
Rev. Goudge and a party of his Salem
friends visited the school and had a pic
nic at Old Chemawa, Wednesday after
noon. They undoubtedly had an enjoy
able time.
Misses Steponeck and Leader, who oc
cupied quarters in the Mann Cottage
during the time remodeling work was in
progress on the small girls' home, moved
back into their old rooms during the
week. '.
One of the younger members of the
printing force attempted to dispute with
a yellowjacket a few days ago and when
he appeared at the office one of his lips
was sticking out like the handle of a
dipper.
One of the school teams ran away
Wednesday while down at the hop ynrd
of one of our neighbors. Just where the
team camped out that night is not known,
but Mr. Swartz sent some boys out to
reconnoitre the following morning and
everything was 0. K.
The following boys left for their homes
within the past ten days: Michel Wil
son, Robert Cameron, Carl Stone,
Edward McClellan, Alvin Pollock, Wil
liam Lalaehute, Lyall Woodly, Albert
Griffin, Clifford Roffe, Elmer Jordan,
William Mose, Joaquin Meadows, Geo.
Baker, Frazier Mecum, Chester Mecum
and Geo Wason.
