us be thoughtful and earnest and apply
what we have been taught while here.
Let us remember with pleasure and
with pride the days when we were class
mates and when we were students of
Chemawa, and let us ever be loyal to
our dear school. We wish succees to
our teachers and to our successors, May
the class of 1909 bring nothing but credit
and honor to Chemawa and to the In
dian race. We now bid you all a re
gretful farewell.

Miss Grear left for her vacation on
Wednesday morning.
Dennis Harnden is now working for
Mr. Page, one of the neighboring farmers.
A carload of flour arrived at the school
t his week and was hauled to the commis
sary. Many children are leaving for their
homes, where they will spend their va
cation. Shingles have arrived and - work will
soon be started in re-shingling the gym
nasium. Mrs. Cooper is acting as dining hall
matron while Miss Skipton is on her
vacation.
Frank Rosenberger and Ralph Allen
are working for Mr. Bewley on his thresh
ing machine.
Miss Royer is acting as the small boys'
matron while Mrs. Newcomb is on her
vacation in Salem.
Calvin Darnell left for Oregon City on
Wednesday, where he will work in the
Willamette paper mills.
Mr. Teabo and a few boys left Wed
nesday for an outing of three or four
weeks in the mountains.
Reggie and Robert Downie left for
their home in Tacoma, Washington, on
Wednesday, to spend their vacation.
Colonel Pringle tested the boilers in
the engine room on Monday and Tues
day and found them in good condition.
Thomas McCully and Edward Ains
worth are working on a New National
bank which is being erected in Salem,
Tom is working at hauling concrete
while Edward is working at his trade of
plumbing. ' -
