Henry Evans is expected to be back

Ed. Evans left for his home in Siletz,
Ore., on Friday morning, where he will
spend his vacation.
Mr. Chas. Larsen is acting disciplinar
ian now during the absence of Mr. Smith,
who is on his vacation.
Walter Miller, James Olney and
Frank Pratrovitch are going to join the
section gang on the S. P. II. R.
Miss Elizabeth G. Bender, of Brown
ing, Montana, is spending her annual
leave with her sister at this school,
Mattie and Eleanor Zimmerman, ac
companied by Mrs. Teabo, left for their
home in the north on Friday morning.
The band boys are going out to work
on Monday to make spending money
for their trip to California in September,
Ellen and G rover Olney accompanied
by their mother left for their home in
North Yakima, Wash , on Wednesday
afternoon. '
James Benjamin and Nathan Nelson
left this morning for Mr. Jones' hop
yard, where they will have employment
for some time.
; Mr. and Mrs E. A. Smith and son,
Warren, departed this morning for
Seattle. They are enjoying their an
nual leave of absence.
Mr. H. C. Bowen, who was industrial
teacher here in the past is now it con
ductor for the Pullman Car Company
and is on the run between Portland and
Seattle.
Philip and Jerry Rees, John and Ar
thur Steele, William Burke, James Fin
ley and Thomas Andrews left for their
homes in Washington, and Montana
on Thursday afternoon.
Twenty five boys in care ofMr. West
ley left on Thursday morning for
Wolfe's hop yard about five miles from
here, where they will camp and work in
the hop yard cutting runners and striping
leaves. .
The band goes to Salem this evening
to appear in the Woodman of the World
parade. It is quite likely that the boys
will be brought home after the festivities
in automobiles. No doubt they will en
joy such a ride.
Miss Rice, of Klamath Agency, arriv
ed at Chemawa during the week and wag
the guest of Miss White for a couple of
days. Yesterday they left for Seattle
and other points north. They are both
enjoying their annual leave.
Word was received here recently from
Mr. J. Venter, who formerly was harness
maker at Chemawa. Mr. Venter is now
at his old home in Lincoln, Nebraska,
and is getting along nicely. He sends
best wishes to Chemawa friends.
Dr. Lieurance took a number of his
hospital boys to the banks of the "Beau
tiful Willamette" yesterday and passed
the day eating chicken and swimming
both enjoyable diversions. The doctor
bought some chickens of a farmer near
the river and was furnished a target rifle
to shoot them with, but after shooting
nine times at a rooster without hitting
him he had the boys run it and the other
fowl down. Everything considered, the
doctor and his boys had an enjoyable
outing.
