Do you know who caused the rain last
week?

Mr. Henderson.

as a result he is now wearing No. 9s. ,

With the demonstrations for commehce
ment. -M -r , -: .
H :Mr. Frank Rabble is here this week
-yisiting the school and- his two sons,
Elmer and David.
. Martin Colby and Arthur Steele, who
are Mrs. Campbell's orderlies, enjoyed a
dinner at her house on Friday.
Alfred Lane came over from his home
at Siletz to attend the commencement
exercises. Alfred graduated last year,
giving the valedictory.
' The seniors; class pins arrived on Fri
day. They are beautiful pins of solid
gold.; Colors, purple and gold, with C. I.
S. and '09 engraved upon them.
At the senior party given by Mr. and
Mrs. Campbell the rooms were decora
ted with nasturtiums, purple pansies,
purple sweet peas, and yellow and pur
ple dahlias. Flowers were everywhere.
We.think our class colors show up fine
this year.
The Senior Class presented a very fine
appearance as they sat on the platform
on Sunday afternoon during the bacca
laureate sermon. The sixteen boys and
five girls are good representatives of what
Chemawa accomplishes for those who
stay until they graduate.
Father Datin preached his usual ex
cellent sermon to the Catholic boys and
girls on Sunday morning. His theme
this time was modesty and politeness.
If the Catholic boys did not treat the
commencement visitors with courtesy
and respect it will not be Father Datin's
fault.
Quite a number of visitors were with
Mr. Chalcraft and Mr. Campbell last
Sunday on insoection. They were
; Colonel Pringle, Mr. and Mrs. Peasley,
Miss Peasiey, Alice Chalcraft, Mr. William-Ingram
of Salem, the non-commissioned
officers, Mrs. Campbell and the
graduates.
The Seniors appreciated the excellent
talk of Rev. Errett who delivered the
baccalaureate sermon on Sunday. They
take this opportunity of thanking him
and alo express their appreciation of
the kind remarks he made to them after
the sermon. Thank you, Mr. Errett.
We will try to deserve your good opinion.
The Juniors held a class meeting on
Monday afternoon of this week and
elected their officers for the'ensuing year,
' when they will be seniors. The following
officers were elected: President, Orin
French; Vice-president, DolJie Case;
Secretary, Amos Smoker; Treasurer,
Harry Jones; Historian, Fiank Souvig
ner. Mrs. Campbell ' is congratulated by
every one for the excel lant singing of
the choir on Sunday. The difficult mu
sic "Holy Art Thou", the Largo by Han
del, and "The Heavens are Declaring"
by Beethoven, were a surprise to those
who heard the superior singing. Per
fect time, tine, modulation, good tones,
and clear articulation testified to the
drill the choir had received.
