We are having a little rain now. R.

Ed Berner is a good hand at ironing
off wagons.
Wallace Farrow is leading the Rose
Avenue League.
The gardeners are busy this week plow
ing and cultivating.
The industrial boys are getting the
lawns to look pretty good.
We are all very giad because the
roses are blooming. L. W.
Oscar Case was hoeing Mrs. Wood's
plants Wednesday afternoon.
Forest Walker says he is going to learn
a trade when he grows up. W. G.
Mr. Cooper is busy cultivating kale
out west of the school this week.
If you want to see some nice cups
look in Mr. Campbell's office window.
Eugene Williams made a home run in
the Sun Rise League Thursday morning.
The small boys who do not work always
pla on poles in a big hole by the wagon
shed.
Mr. Van Tassel was repairing the
'furnace at. Mitchell Hall, Wednesday
afternoon.
Fred Lewis was busy one day this
week mowing the lawns in front of the
power house. .
Mr. Smith had a bunch of the small
boys cleaning up the yard around the
Small Boys' Home, Wednesday.
The farmers. have been busy this week
hauling gravel from the Claggett pit for
the county road near the school.
Some of the farmers were out cutting
the long grass in the cemetery Thursday ;
getting ready for Decoration Day.
Mr. Woods aud his boys will soon be
through with the small girls' home and
we hope he will make a good job of it.

The painters have finished painting
the west cottage and are now engaged in
painting different parts of the small
girls' home.
Mr. Smith was straightening out the
hurdles Wednesday evening so as to be
ready for the field meet with McMinn
ville College.
NOMINATION CONFIRMED
Washington, May 22. The senate to
day continued the following nomination:

Brevities
Cora Picard is now working in the
laundry, and she likes to work there.
The Chemawa blacksmith boys are
turning out some very nice work for the
Seattle Exposition.
Messrs. G. H. Orr, of Klamath Agen
cy, and Thos. Barkley, of Yainax, have
been the guests of Mr. H. E. Mann and
family during the week.
A try-out was held yesterday after
noon for the purpose of selecting a track
team to complete in the field meets in
which Chemawa is soon to engage.
Mrs. Swaboda and a number of other
ladies were out from Salem to visit the
school yesterday. They were guided to
the printing office by Miss Skipton.
