Reliance , , : The Reliance held their meeting in school room No. 7 Thursday evening. - The President called the house to order, after which the Secretary called the roll. An election of new officers followed, the result being: President, Alex Covington; Vice-President, Hugh Jackson;. Secre tary, Frank Rosenberger; Sergean't-at-Arms, Milton'. George; Treasurer. Andy Walker; Reporter, Seymour Goudy. The new officers took their seats and business was discussed for a few minutes. Mr. Fickle then gave us instructions as to what should be done, after which wu adjourned. Y.'W. C. A. The members of the Y. W.'C. A. held their regular meeting last Wednesday evening. The meeting was opened by a song, after which the secretary called the roll.. There were seven new names on the roll, all of whom we' were glad to welcome to our association. Another song was sung. Preparations were then made to observe the World's Universal Day of Prayer. We selected the following songs to sing on that day : : "Sweet Hour CMAWA AMERICAN of Prayer," "Blessed Hour of Prayer" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Ella Brewer then spoke a few words to the members. We then sung our clos ing song, repeated our watchword and adjourned. Nonpareil. 1 The Nonpareil Society met in its us ual place last Thursday evening. The new officers presided. President Allen called the house to order and the roll was called. On account ox so much business we dropped the program. New speakers were picked to represent our society in the third debate and other business relating to the debate was settled. The Band boys. held a meeting Sunday morning at the band hall and discuss d the band concert and party to be given in the near future. The band will have at least thirty members when the new instruments come. At present it has twenty-two members, who are supplied with instru- nients. - The band boys are taking music lei sons one by one now'. Each' one en titled to half an hour's practice each week. Mr. Larsen is kept busy till week teaching music. There are 30 members just at the present time. Seme of them are beginners and are not yet able to play in the band.
