meekly Cbemawa American VOL. 11 Seniors and Juniors' Annual Party Monday evening the Senior and Junior Clashes gave their annual Valen tine party in the Auditorium. The hall was beautifully and artistically decorat ed with evergreens, flags', banners, hearth and other decorations suitable to the occasion. The class colors of blue and gold crepe were well arranged about the walls, ceiling, and around the lights. Levi Sortor gave the opening address on behalf of the teachers and all con nected with the success of the two classes and the different committees appointed who worked faithfully to make the even ing one of pleasure for the guests. Mr. Sortor called for a few brief remarks from Supt. Chalcraft, Asst. Supt. Camp bell, Mr. and Mrs. Pickering, Mrs. Chal craft, Miss Royer, Misses Nora and Hat tie Mann, and the following graduates who were juests: Haines DeWitt, '04; Fortunato Jayine, 'CH; Robert Cameron, Henry Dillstrom and Ella Brewer, '07; Katie Rn wer, Belle Dillstrom and Harry Que;ichpa!ina. '0S. All spoke encourag ing words to the class of '09 and wished them success in every undertaking. NO. 35 A postoffice located in one corner of the room where the many Valentines were passed out by Uucle Sam afforded much amusement. Refreshments con sisting of sandwiches, pickles, oranges, nuts, candies, cocoa, ice cream and cake were served, A warning from the power house gave the signal that the lights would soon go out and the jolly crowd departed for their respective quarters. These parties have become annual affairs and have assumed importance in the school life. Such a social function as that of Monday evening is of value aside from the entertainment it affords. In fact, it is a part of an education and is a vital factor in giving one an air of poise and polish when mingling with others that can be acquired in no other way. They bring all that is best in one to the surface and cause pleasant memories to dwell in the mind for many a day thereafter at least such will prove true of the party of Monday night.
