Paul Queachpalma and Wm. Burke
were picked by Coach Fleming as good
men to try out for the basketball team.
Gordon Hobucket, a member of last
year's graduating class, writes us that at
present he holds a good position with
a Northern Pacific surveying party.
They are now surveying on the Quinault
Indian Reservation.- We are all pleas
ed to note Gordon's success.
Monday evening the speakers of the
Excelsior and Nonpareil Literary Socie
ties had a special meeting in the assembly
room at McBride Hall to make arrange
mentsfor the coming public debate.
Last Sunday afternoon the Excelsior
speakers for the coming public debates
called a special meeting in the sitting
room at the employe's building. The
principal speakers were elected and chose
their colleagues. Henry Dillstrom, prin
cipal speaker for the first debate, chose
Joseph Dillstrom, Helen Dillstrom and
Belle Dillstrom (sub) for his colleagues.
Robert Cameron, principal for the second
debate, picked for his colleagues, T. J.
McCully, Helen Harnden and Ella
Brewer (sub). Fortunato Jayme prin
cipal for the third debate, selected
Walter Haight, Margaret Lowry and
Melvina Moxley (sub).
COMPANY MEETING.
The members of A company of the
Chemawa Cadet Battalion met a few
nights ago in their Assembly Hall ai
the call of Captain Meadows for the pur
pose of perfecting their organization and
to read to the members the rules and reg
ulations of ' Mitchell Hall Sergeant
French was elected secretary pro tern.
The Constitution and By-laws beinji
read and discussed the company proceed
ed to elect a company clerk and treasurer.

clerk and Frank Rosenburger was elect
ed treasurer. Sergeant Sortor and pri
vate Ainsworth were elected to serve a?
members of the Court of Discipline.
After a few remarks from Mr. Smith,
Mr. Larsen, Adjutant Williams and Sergeant-Major
Dillstrom urging the boys
to live up to the rules and orders a
motion was made to adjourn.
BAND COMPANY.
After the meeting of "A" 'Company
last Monday evening the members of the
Band held a meeting in the Band Hall
and with Robert Cameron as temporary
clerk the-following officers were elected:
James Evans, Secretary; Robert Camer
on, Treasurer. Haynes DeWitt and
Alex Cajet were elected to serve as mem
bers of the Court of Discipline The
officers of the Band Company are as
follows: Principal Musician, Pxobert
Cameron; First Sergeant, Harry Queach
palma; Second Sergeant, Walter Miller.
