A. was held Wednesday, Dec 30th, 1908. The meeting was opened with thehymn, "What a friend we have in Jesus." Roll call was then read, a few members be ing absent. Another song was sung. The Secretary read the minutes of the. preceding meeting- -Unfinished business was transacted. (There were three mem-' bers admitted ' The topic for vthe evening was, " A Test of Discipleship," led by Belle Dill strom, Miss Royer, Mrs. Chalcraft, Helen Dillstrom and Katie Brewer also spoke on the subject. Our -: closing song was, . "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," after which, we repeated the watchword and adjourn ed. . '.. . . v Reliance The Reliance Literary Society met in ' regular session, this.being the first session of the year, with nearly all members pres ent. After the reading and approval of the minutes the program was rendered. The president desires all members to be prepared when placed on the program. Programs can be seen at the usual place each week; All Reliance members will please keep an eye on the wall at Mitchell Hall porch and then come prepared. Excelsiors The early part of the meeting last Thursday evening was devoted to dis cussing the challenge of the Nonpareils to a series of three. public debates. All the members showed great enthusiasm , and some spoke encouraging words upon the matter. The acceptance was unani mously voted. ' The following was the program of last meeting: Opening ad dress, Ella Brewer; yocal solo, Laura Harnden; Recitation, Loulin Brewer; .piano solo, Esther Napoleon; Monologue, Joseph hillstrom; vocal duet, Martha Decker and Allah Madison; recitation, Frank Souvigner; saxophone solo, Haynes - De Witt, tfnd remarks, Charles E. Larsen. The opening address, the piano solo, the saxophone solo and the remarks were well rendered and enjoyed by those who were present, but-the ?est of above numbers were frozen on the way to the assembly loom. , Say, boys and girls, do not let the cold weather be in vour way when attending your society meetings, especially when you are on "the program. Very likely you may have the same experience when the warm weather comes. Above all, do not practice that habit of cheating from your society meetings. This is your op portunity and it lies with yourselves to take advantage of it Do not be like some of those boys and girls that only attend the1 society whenever they hear that a banquet is being planned.
