Helen Harnden is making herself a
black dress.
We are glad to see Thos. McCully back
in the school.
The uniformes for small girls are al
most finished.
The, gardeners are blasting stumps in
the old barn lot.
The second grade received six new
pupils this week.
May Evans received a beautiful tea ..
set for Christmas.
Leonard McDaniels is the manager -of
the wood force team.
Willie Flett reports for work about
ten o'clock these tine mornings.
Mrs. and Miss Holmes of Portland are
Miss Skipton's visitors this week.
Miss Francis Howard of Salem visited
i Miss Skipton, Wednesday this week.
The sewing room girls a) e making
bath and face towels for Mitchell Hall.
Grover Olney does all the cooking of
beefsteak in the kitchen for the visitors.
Mr. Bowen and his industrial force
pulled three stumps out back of the
office.
Mrs. Stevens of Portland and Miss
Bertha Jennings' of Salem visited the
Brewers last week.
Miss Agnes Young of Seattle is visit
ing her niece and nephews, Dolly, Oscar
and Tommy Case, this week.
Thomas Powers met with an accident
last evening playing basketball and wo
miss him very much in the kitchen.
The new girls in the sewing room are
learning fast in making button holes,
and the whole force is improving in
the tailoring.
Henry Wilson is the first one to work
every morning. He even finds it nec
essary to come in the window to get
there first.
Mrs. K. L. Brewer and Miss Skipton
are making fancy candies this week. A
visit to the kitchen will convince you of
a real confectionery.
Some of the second grade are doing
very well in reading. We are all glad
Happy New7 Year is here. , We all hope
to have a good time.
When I came to Chemawa I hardly
liked it at first but the idea soon faded
away and now 1 am learning fast and
intend to stay here three years. S. V.
Miss Skipton is invited to attend the
wedding of Miss Eda Bearinger to W. S.
Scruggs, both of Portland. Miss Bear
inger is known by many here in Chem
awa. ''We wish her many happy years in
her future life.
Mr. Ernest Brewer visited the second
grade Thursday morning this week. He
found two graduates at the desk writing
during the spelling session, and he in
quired whether they are also in that
grade. Don't you know them, Ernest?
