Dollie Case is now pianist for the
chapel exercises and the marching.
The boys are now exceedingly careful
about where they put their hats and caps.
The dressing room and piano closet
have recently been installed in the new
gym.
Dennis Harnden was in town Monday
purchasing a wrestling mat for tlie new
gym. -
The comructors of the new power house
have now come to the steam-fitting part
of the work.
The Excelsiors have raised funds for
their, annual reception to be given in the
mar future.
The "Ur.cle Sams1' are learning a new
piece for their entertainment to be given
Christmas week.
Mrs. Newcomb and Miss Troutman
were marking the small boys' and small
girls' hose this week.
Mrn. Jane Howard of South Bend,
.Wash.,-was a visitor at - the school last
Friday and Saturday. -
Mrs. ( halcraft was in town Monday
admiring a large painted picture of Cra
ter Lake, Xmas is near.
Mrs. Mann now has for sale Chemawa,
0. A; C, U. of 0 , Stanford, and other
Kchool and college pennants.
Mrs. Brewer has already begun mak
ing fruit cake, apple jelly and mince
meat for the Christmas dinner.
Miss Noble is now in charge of the
employes' club and the members are all .
pleased, with the new arrangement.
Miss Koester was in Salem on Satur
day after Christmas cash for the deposi
tors of the Chemawa National Bank.
Supt. Knott C. Egbert of Siletz', Ore.,
was a Chemawa visitor on Sunday, en
route to Siletz from his annual leave
spent in the East.
Two 10-pound sample boxes of choice
dried Italian and. Petite prunes: were
sent to the Honorable Commissioner of
Indian Affairs this week.
"Uncle Sam's Mail Bag" is an inters
esting little paper read at the weekly
meeting of the society, giving the amus
ing incidents of the week.
Mr. Lot wenfeldt. of , ,: Sa lem was out
on Tuesdav taking photographs of the
entire 1908 football squad, first team,
second team, and individual players.
Mr. Goudge of Willamette University
gave a very interesting stereopticon
illustrated lecture oh the Mohammedan
religion of Turkey in chapel, Sunday
evening.
Miss Earlougher and Miss White took
a 16 -mile walk on Saturday afternoon
bringing back a variety7 of ferns also a
supply of garlic for the mess for Sun
day dinner.
At a recent sociable Messrs. Teabo,
Larsen, Pickering Chalcraft and Dr.
Lieurance furnished such a volume of
music that for a few minutes they were
mistaken for the whole band and the
pupils began a march. Possessing the
talent that he does the doctor should
join the band. Indications point to a
successful drummer.'
