punts much better than did our boys. A
costly fumble on the Clubmen's three

touch-down against them. Our touch
down was made by line-bucks, Graham
carrying the ball over, and kicking the
goal.

Last Wednesday the Y. M, C. A. held
their regular meeting. The attendance
was much larger than usual and it is
hoped that it will continue to get larger
every meeting. The program was ren
dered in a very creditable manner. Mr;
Wiliiamsled in prayer. The speakers of
the evening were: Henry Dillstrom,
Walter Haight, and Eugene Williams.
Several hymns were sung during the
intervals of the speaking. Mr. Haight
gave the closing prayer.
Excelsiors
The Excelsior Literary Society held
its regular meeting in room 8. A little
business was transacted and then we
debated the question, "Resolved, That
the High Schools should be supported
by the State." Dora Clauson, Loulin
Brewer and Anna Walker were the
speakers on the ' affirmative side, and
Helen Dillstrom, Walter Haight and
Maud Lowry defended the negative side
of the question. The subject was thrown
open to the house and a few others gave
their opinion. The result of the debate
was that the judges decided in favor of
the negative.
The home of Mivand Mrs. Edwin L.
Chalcraft was the scene of a pretty
family, reunion, Tuesday evening. Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Pickering, of Albion,
Illinois, father and mother of Mrs.
Chalcraft, arrived after a iong but en
joyable trip across the continent from
Boston and were warmly welcomed to
Chemawa. Mr. and Mrs. Pickering ex
pressed themselves as delighted with
the west, Oregon, and the school. Their
visit to Chemawa has been looked for
ward to with a great deal of happiness
and anticipation on the part of their
host of relatives in Oregon and the
Northwest. -
