THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN
MONTHLY ENTERTAINMENT
The teachers and pupils of our school
have undertaken to provide us with an
entertainment once a month during the
present school year. Friday evening
we had the pleasure of being present at
the first program rendered. In every
way it was most creditable for the pupils
who appeared on the platform and be
yond doubt was a satisfaction to their
teachers. We cannot mention in detail
what was given, further than to state
that every grade in the school was re
presented. The following program
speaks for itself:

The 10,000 landless Indians of Cali
fornia are in 350 bands, some of which
are few in numbers, and the.-e are so
scattered that there is great difficulty in
providing schools and missions for them.
Only by admitting them to the white
schools wherever these are, and by
including them in the Christian teaching
of the churches nearest them, can they
be instructed and evangelized. Ten con
secrated field matrons are doing noble
work at different points, but more aru
needed for places remote from any

Mrs. Brewer is a fine cook and rio hoy
or girl should complain about the food,
but should be ready to help her at any
