Frank Gay from Siletz is .among the
latest arrivals at the school.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith attended the show
in Salem Monday evening.
Monday night Mr. Campbell gave a lec
ture on how to vote which was very int er
esting. Little Marie Mann made a big hit at
the school entertainment on Friday
night.

Mr. Swaboda showed us all the par ts of
a bridle on Monday night and explained
its construction. The students gave close
attention to his talk.
Martin Santpson, oi the Class of 1908,
writes from Hampton, where he is taking
a special course,, enclosing a year's sub
scription to the American.
The ice cream social given Wednes
dav evening by the Y. W. C. A. was
a errand success in every way. The
social was so well patronized that stand
ing room was at a premium.
We had' nice programs at the monthly :
entertainment.. We thank Mr. Turney
for -providing them for us. Wev under-,
stand we are to have them every .month.
We can save them and keep them as
souvenirs.
The first monthly entertainment was
pi von on Friday night in the school
chapel and was very successful. The
program is given elsewhere. The pret
tily decorated stage, well dressed and
well drilled children, all added to the
pleasure of the evening. The salute to
the flag given by the whole school was
particularly Well done.
ALBANY VS CHEMAWA.
The score was 7 to 0. We are sore all
over. The least said is the best mended.
We will not kick but we can defeat

The new brick smoke stack for the
power house is rising higher each day .
Mr. Fleming, who is coaching Chema
wa's football team is giving them a series
of new signals and plays this week.-J.M.
Martha Le Claire and Laura Harnden
are taking nurse training now and they
are very much interested in their work.
The eighth grade pupils were glad to
welcome James Ben jamin into their class
after he had spent his vacation at home:
Last Tuesday was a beautiful day and
we could see . Mount Hood very plain,
while up in Washington it is already

The supplies for the Sanitarium .came'
last week. The nurses were very glad
and now they are busy .opening the
boxes ahd putting the medicine away in
the Dispensary.
Since I have become acquainted here
at Chemawa I like the place much better
than at first, and the school is excellent.
I have taken up the engineering trade
and like it quite well. D. IJ.
