Mrs. Mann's brother came to pee her
and her children.
There are new children coming to Che
mawa every week. , . ,
We have reason to know that Miss
Skipton is a splendid candy maker.
Mrs. Bevans from Cartons, Wash., is
visiting her children at Chemawa.
The reading room at the small boys'
home is being kalsomined and repaired.
Sergeant Thomas Case from C company
has been promoted' to quarter master .
for Co A.
Miss Evelyn Woods is among those
from Chemawa who attends the Capital
Business College-in salem.
Philip Purns, who recently returned
from Yakima, Washington, was re-admitted
to the band and is playing baritone
at present.
Girls recently returned to school are
Maud Petite, Christine Victor, and
Annie Johnson. Among the girls just
admitted to the school are Mamie Smith,
Mabel and Cora Picarri, Beatrice Guy
tt, Josephine, Olive and Francis Pi
card. Hie following grades give the salute
to the flag every morning and afternoon
and do it very well: Seniors, Juniors,
eighth, seventh, third and second, . The
other grades will be prepared to salute
the flag"' and Mng America in a few days.
Each school session will begin in this
manner and the patriotism instilled into
the hearts of our pupils will prepare them
for good citizenship.

Mr. Bowen has nine faithful workers

Miss Kattie Brewer is going to the
Salem High School. ! :
Mr.. Henderson is having an addition
built onto his store.
Mr. Smith lined off the football
ground Wednesday.
Elmer . Sorahan is expected to arrive
from California soon.
Mr. Goudge has a large Bible. Class
every Sunday evening. , :
The fourth grade pupils are all
getting along nicely in their studies.
The whereabouts of the Atlantic fleet
is very interesting to the pupils of the
fourth grade:

Wednesday, which gives them a very
neat appearence.

cans" have come to see us of late. They
are good little weeklies. The Bell. '
Misses Norah and Hattie Mann, Miss
Ella Brewer and Fortunato Jayme are
attending the Capital Business College
in Salem.
Hannah Holliday is going to work in
the sewing room 'until she finishes her
uniform dress. Then she will go to the
laundry to work.
R. W. Long is teaching school at
Butler, Oregon . He has a large attend
ance and has one of the best equipped
school houses in the state.
Weekly Chemawa American . is the
first exchange to be received this year.
Considering the frequency of the pub
