Circular Letter . U. S. Indian Training School,
No. 1. Chemawa, Oregon, Aug. 28, 1908,
My dear Boy or Girl:
This is a circular letter written to all the
Chemawa boys and girls who are home on leave, or who have gone
home on account of expiration of term. Read carefully the
NOTICE to Indian Parents and Indian Young men and women
desiring an Industrial Educatian at Chemawa, which you will
find in the front of each issue of the Chemawa American. This
will tell you how to get back to Chemawa. You belong to Che
mawa, Chemawa belongs to you. It is here for your education.
Take advantage of it.
Hop picking will commence September fifth this year. Get
back to school in time for that if you can. If the term of your
previous enrollment has expired, then see your Agent or Superin
tendent immediately, if you are on a reservation and ask him for
transportation to the school and write to us. If you are not on a
reservation then write direct to the school, and be sure to give your
railroad point, so there will be no misunderstanding.
If you have no application blanks for yourself or for new pu
pils write to the school for some to be sent you and be careful to
have the same filled out as required. The postmaster or some
good person in your vicinity will help you, if you need help.
Ask them, don't be backward. Show the Chemawa spirit and
push ahead over all obstacles and get there. .
How many new pupils are you going to bring back with you?
We want to hear from all who get this letter. That means you.
Your friend,
W. P. Campbell,
Asst. Supt.
