Chemawa now has a race that is well
worth watching. The second, third, fourth
and fifth teams have entered into a
spirited contest for diamond honors, and
every evening a game of five innings is
played and the excitment shown would,
lead one to believe that a game between
the Pacific Coast teams was being play
ed when such remarks as, "McCredie to
the bat" and "Pinnance is the candy
boy" can be heard" on the side lines.
Something doing all the time.

The work on the bachelors' quarters
is being rapidly pushed to completion.
When finished it will' make a very nice
home for our single gentlemen: '! he
space is alTassigned'arid the only regret
is that the building is not a little more
spacious.
The Chalerafts, returned from Seattle
Wednesday evening in time for the lie
lay Cup presentation. Mrs. Chalcraft
reports that every thing in the Sound
City i? on the go and the visit of Uncle
Sam's war fleet took tens of thousand to
the city.
Mr Smith and his force of plumbers
have just made a wonderful improvement
in the mess kitchen. After making and
putting in a new wash sink, they were
not satisfied to leave the kitchen as it
was, so they calcimined the ceiling and
walls, repaired the tables, cupboard,
wood box and wainscoting, and then
painted all the wood work and. funiture,
also altered and improved the wiring of
the electric lights. Although the plum
bers are not skilled in the use of
carpenters tools or the calcimine and
paint brushes, they were able to get
good results as is evidenced by the work
just completed, which is now ready for
inspection.
An ice cream social was given last
Monday evening under the auspices of
the Young Men's Christian Association
for the purpose of raising funds to send
a delegation of four young men to an
annual student Y. M. C. A. conference
to be held at Long Beach, Washington,
June 13-24, 1908. The cabinet of the
association were pleased to see so man''
students attending, as it is that much
better for the representation of the Che
mawa association. The ..object of this
organization is to promote the moral
conditions of our young men, and to
elevate the name of our own school
Chemawa. We extend bur hearty ap
preciation to those - who have attended
the social as they are a great help to
wards our association.
