We are glad to see the race track: ini
shape again for the boys who are train
ing for the coming field. -meets.
The Girls' Mandolin Club will play in
chapel Wednesday evening, June 3rd,
at which time they! expect to ; render, a
pleasing -program :
Mr. J. B. Johnson of Coif ax' writes:

' The recital given by pupils of Mr;
Le Roy Gesner is to occur June 1st in
the chapel of Willamette University.
Ohemawa people are especially; invited.

Mernie Hug, vocalist, will give a joint
recital June 11th, to which they extend
a cordial invitation to the people- of

The month of May has been the most
delightful month of the year. The
May roses are very beautiful to a person
who is from a N place where they, have
roses in June and roses only once a
" year. The Chemawa grounds are trim -med
with roses which are very pretty.

; PROGRESSIVE'S PARTY.
As it is the custom of Chemawa's lit
erary societies to invite their friends' of
the student body and employes to en
j jy the evening, the Progressive .Literary
Society followed that custom Thursday

evening, May 21. . The society is com
posed of : boys1 and i they, with their lady
friends and1 a few Vof i V the employes,
gathered in the auditorium to enjoy the
evening. The order' of ;the evening un
til1 refreshments were 'Servedwas J games
arid 1 social' chat, every; one i from the
smallest to the ! largest lenjoying it.
At the announcement of refreshments
games ceased. Social chat and refresh
ments continued' the remainder! of, the
evening. How the refreshments ? disap

' At the:usual hour , s of . departure the
m e m bers of th e society . and their friends
left the scene of enjoyment for their
quarters, thus closing the -first social
event ever; attempted by -the . society.
Chemawa: will hear- of the. Progressive
again at the next literary seasomin a so
cial way as well as a; literary way. The
su ccess of t he eveni n g ; reflects m uch
credit -on the members of the society
and their critic, Mr. H. L. Fickle.

.' Our second ball team? won its second
victory d as t Saturday.
The boys are looking forward : to a big
try-out for the track team before long.
The atjiletes are glad to see the track
in good shape. There is some good run
ning going on every evening.
Our second, baseball team went to
Salem last Saturday and defeated the Y.
M. C. A. Intermediates by the score of
10 to 1.
. The race track has been disced and
all , the little stones picked 5 up, The
; boys are out every night trai ning. for
the track team try-out.
