The farmers are through plowing and

Mr. Turney has bought the girls'

Lizzie Beaver says she is going to try
and stand highest in the junior , class in

David Graham did some very neat work
in ironing off the sway bar for a little

Every pupil is anxiously waiting for
the final examination which' will begin
the first part of June. C. L. D.
One day last week Joe Dillstrom took
a herd of goats to Portland for Mr Cooper.
He returned the next day. A. L.
William Watkins is one of our best
long distance runners. He can be seen
out on the race track on pleasant -evenings.

girls have begun studying for the final
examination, which will he given the

Some friends of Miss Irene Campbell
were with her at the baseball game on
Saturday and we were all pleased to
have them ''root'' for Chemawa.
The girls attending the Willamette
University brought home immense
bouquets of beautiful California poppies
from Salem list week and divided them

The wagon-makers will soon finish a
heavy wagon.
Eddie Curl is making screens for the
gymnasium this week.
G rover Colby is making sashes in the
carpenter shop this week
The gardeners will soon start to plant
32 acres of land in potatoes.
The painters are now painting about
2500 pickets for the hospital fence.
The force of men who are working on
the "gym" are now putting a floor on
the gallery.
. The carpenters have finished some of
the window and door frames for the
gymnasium.
James Minesinger is firing this week
and John Taylor and Wm. Carrasco are
his wood haulers.
Lee Evans has just finished striping a
wagon in a very creditable manner. His
work shows much improvement.
A force of men are laying a founda
tion for the old printing office which is
being remodeled for employes' quarters.
The painters have just finished var
nishing and painting about 400 chairs
and stools which were taken from the
various departments.
The gardeners are now sorting and
sacking 500 bushels of potatoes to be
sold, so as to keep them from spoiling,
the pupils being unable to eat them.
Mr. Swain and a force of bovs are

whitewashing the rafters and trusses of
the interior of the "gym," as a preserva
tive. Later this will be hidden by a fine
oil-finished ceiling. :
