Miss C. Harold has been :i visitor at
Chemawa for the past week. '
The boys are looking forward for a
good track team this season.
Dr. and Mrs. Bristow and son of Port
land, were at Supt. Chalcraft's last week.
Alfred Lane and Merl Poland can be
seen on the baseball ground practicing
every day.
By the time . this paper reaches its
reader Chemawa with her roses in bloom
will be a bower of beauty.
Miss Katherine Erlougher has been
transferred from Phoenix viz Sarah C.
Clontier and has arrived at Chemawa
and entered upon her duties.
Everybody in this section of the
country is complimenting our boys upon
the relay race. We should all be proud
of our plucky long distance runners.
Dr. W. Q. Tucker has been promoted
and appointed Physican and Superinten
dent of the Greenville California School
and will leave for his new place of duty
in the near future. What is Greenville's
gain will be Chemawa's loss. The Doc
tor's many friends will be sorry to see
him leave for his new field of duty.
The wood contractors are now deliver
ing big fir wood to the wood yard and
a continuous streams of wagons can be
seen passing into our grounds.
Miss Lulu M. Evans has arrived from
Missouri to fill the teacher's position for
merly occupied by Miss Bowman. Miss
Irene Campbell 'taught -temporarily dur
ing the interva I.
The contractors are delivering the
supplies for the new gymnasium, re
pairs to the employee's quarters, etc.
Music of the hammer and saw these
days have a very pleasing sound to
the ear.' "
Mr. Herbert Campbell, sporting editor
of the Spokane Chronicle, is now visit
ing Chemawa to recuperate his health.
Mr. Campbell was operated upon last
month for appendicitis and his many
friends are glad to note his rapid recovery.
Cyril Morrisette lost his watch while
working on the ditch for the sewer pipe
draining the gym, chief engineer's cottage
and other buildings. A treat with lemon
ade is demanded of him by his fellow
workers, the plumbers, who found and
returnedthe watch.
Mr. Woods sent over to the office a de
tail drawing of some mill work that he
desired solved and Mr. Campbell sub
mitted it to this year's graduating class
and Belle Dillstrom and Harry Queah
pahma obtained the correct result im
mediately. It was quite complicated
and they deserve commendation for the
ability to solve it.
Among those who were at the finish
and had the pleasure of seeing Amos
Smoker hand Governor Chamberlain's
letter to Mayor Lane on last Saturday
were Superintendent Chalcraft, Assistant
Superintendent Campbell, Dr. Tucker,
Mrs. Campbell, Miss Irene Campbell,
Mr. Bo wen, Mr. Woodin, Mr. Teabo,
and Herbert Campbell.
