tor Grilley was naturally regretful over
the race. He said that he agreed with
the men that athletic affairs needed to
be pushed oh by the men themselves.
He had done his best, but the difficulty
in. obtaining an auto and the placing of
.men were matters that were unavoid
able. But next year we are in to win

Chemawa Boy Has Advantage,

He concluded to struggle on. 'He is
instructed to uncover the stock and
brush and arrange the same, which con
sists of piece goods for suitings, etc.
While engaged in this work a customer
arrives and is approached by the cutter,
the proprietor being temporarily absent
at that time. He is enabled to listen to
the conversation which takes place be
tween the customer and gutter and learns
that the cutter has just finished a suit
for him and it proved very satisfactory.
The customer now wants a business suit,
for which he selects the material, agree
ing to pay $37.50 for the same.
After making a note of the details neces
sary for the suit the customer is allowed
to depart, leaving the boy and Mr. K. R.
Tey, such being the cutter's name, alone.
Mr. K. R. Tey instructs the boyVhow to
enter the order on the order book, how
to record the details, etc. Much to the
boy's surprise he also learns i hat the
cutter is an Indian who received tech
nical training at the Indian Training
School at Chemawa, Oregon.
The preparation he received there fit
ted him to fill the vacancy caused by the
previous cutter leaving, he, K. R Tey,
having worked in the workshop for the
same house as a coat-maker, earning $22
per week. But as a cutter he now re
ceives a salary of $30 per week and is
giving excellent satisfaction. He is
saving his money and , expects to

in the auditorium. We are very anx
ious to see the new club appear before it
