Alex Naama and West Sinvela, two
Snpai boys, have come to Phoenix to
complete a trade. They hold tKe honor
of being the first to leave their tribal
home in the Cataract canyon to go to a
nonreservation school.-Native American.
The youngest boys at the Boys' Cot
tage have been as much, interested in
learning the ten commandments as the
older boys, but their versions are not
always as accurate as might be wished.
One little boy insists that "six days shalt
thy neighbor do all thy work. ''Word

Bids for our ice and cold storage plant
were rejected at the Indian Office the
other day. All too high. In order to
secure this needed plant it is expected
to purchase the material in open market
and perform the labor with rur school
force. Mr. Meairs is an expert machinist
and understands ice' machinery perfectly.'

Robert Yellowtaii, one of our
high school students, has taken up
the study of law under Hon. Miguel
Estudillio. Robert is verv ambitious and
is a busy young man these days main
taining his standing at his school and
keeping up his law studies at the same
time. His. ambition is to attend Stan
ford University, and if he continues as
he has done this year there is no doubt
but that he will succeed in acquiring

Mr. A- JL; Leed arrived yesterday from
the lower portion of the Yuma valleys
levee with ninety Indians, who will be
worked on the Gravity canal heading.
They have finished cutting the brush on
the canal line to the international
boundary. Under R. R. Thornton, fore
man of the ditch work, they can complete
the mile and a half of ten-foot 'canal
within a few weeks.-Yuma Examiner.
A large crowd of pupils and employes
visited the fleet of battleships at Long
Beach and San Pedro on Saturday. Prob
ably 201', 000 people were present to greet
this armada upon its arrival. The Sher
man party left for home about 12 o'clock
at night and reached home at 6 in the
morning. They were all pretty well
tired out. but had a good time. Sher

Five young men from Standing Rock
are going to Washington in regard to
these land leasing affairs. And there
will probably be much debating and dis
pute in regard to it. But if these young
men are honest about their business they
will prevent their people from further,
destruction. It is their business to
struggle and make void those things
which keep the people in a low state.
Because the young men of Japan were
honest, they won the - war - they - had with
Russia. So likewise these young men
ought to work for their people. But
many in the past years who have done
this work have failed because instead of
being honest they made fools of them
selves by intoxicating themselves.- .And
thev were skillful in all sorts of foolish
ness and frauds, which caused much
fear after they were revealed. Frank
