Louise Johnson, who arrived here last
Friday morning from her home in Dun
geness, Wash., has entered the fourth
grade and is getting along nicely in her
studies.
Two, more new pupils have entered
Miss Royer's school room, George and
Mable Swain. '
Arthur Steele and El wood Towner
were promoted to the third grade on
Tuesday.

Who is to be queen of the May ?
The McBride summer uniforms are
finished.
David Smith, a former -student of
Chemawa, was here for a visit on Tues
day. A postal card was received from Miss
Iva Cox saying that she would be back
before. long.
Miss Alta AJtman and Kdgar Martin
visited over Sunday with Miss Skipton
and enjoyed the band concert.
Miss Skipton took her little girls out
walking Sunday and they all had a good
time in the woods gathering flowers.
Who is going to win the Salem
Portland relay race Saturday?' was the
question going around among the
employes and pupils this week.
The new grand stands were finished
just in time for the two baseball games
Saturday forenoon and afternoon. They
added greatly to the enjoyment of the,
game.
Mrs. Campbell gave the afternoon
divisioivof school a recess last Wednes
day just to see if the pupils were
prompt in getting back to the school
room. ' . . ;
While on their way to school Tuesday
afternoon pupils . of ; the afternoon
grades had their pictures taken and all
went on to school wich smiling.1 faces,
hoping to see a few of the photos with
