The gardeners are pruning trees.

hospital Monday and Tuesday.
The industrial boys' will soon start a
cinder walk to the new-hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Cooper had their Xnias
dinner at Salem with A; L. Harvey.
Sarah Peiree was in charge of the din
ing hall during the short illness of Mrs.
Cox.
The garden boys are washing squash
and pumpkin seeds for next planting
season.
Mr. Westley's boys are fixing trays,
preparing for next September's prune
drying. .
There has been no regular work in the
domestic science department for three
weeks oil account of the holidays.
Dr. Tucker, with the help of Mrs.
Bullard and her force of nurses, is get
ting ready to move into the new hospital.
. Pickering Chalcraft and his new gun
are inseparable companions just now. A
boy's first gun is to him a great treasure.
The sewing room girls are busy doing
odd jobs. At present they are getting
ready for real work to make work
uniforms. Postal cards and letters from the S. A.
A. C. young men say they are getting a
long fine. They are loud in their prais
es of Chemawa and the hospitality ex
tended to them here.
The electric car made its first trip
from Salem to Portland on New Years
day.
Edward Williams, William Lalachute
and Frazier Meacum are fertilizing for
planting the squash, cucumbers and
pumpkins.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibeau, of Montana,
left last Saturday afternoon, after . visit
ing their daughters, Mary and Matilda,
for over a week.
Mrs. Campbell is happy over the addi
tion of some more beautiful Indian
curios which were received as Christmas
gifts and are now added to her collection,
Mrs. Chalcraft's pupils have decorated
her blackboard most artistically. Mrs,
Chalcraft's room is always neat and
clean and the pupils seem happily busy,
Mr. Bowen and his industrial detail
have made a cinder walk from the east
side of the hospital to the gymnasium, 8f
now you needn't go up to your necks ir
mud to go to a sociable. ,
