Frank Dan is a very good baker.
George Flett is working in the harness
shop. ;
Alex Moran works in the industrial
department.
The farmers are busy plowing at the
lower farm.
Grover Colby made a door for the en
gine room.
The gardeners are now pruning the
blackberries.
Maggie Wynaco is . now wo iking in
the laundry.
Viola Ferris is now working in t h e
mess kitchen.
Katie Henry is making herself a very
pretty dress.
The sewing room girls will soon finish
the cheviot dresses. .
Hulda Stokes is' getting to be a good
cook in the hospital.
Rhoda Silverthorn is working in the
laundry and does her work ery neatly.
The kitchen boys started using their
white suits Thanksgiving day.
The sixth grade girls enjoyed the nice
dinner Monday they had at the Domestic
' Science.
Tom Andrews is working on the night
shift this week and Manuel Svvanson is
his fireman.
Millie Fried lander is still working in
the laundry and she says she likes her
work very much.
Minerva Meacum is, working in the
hospital kitchen and is getting to be a
very nice cook. '
Mr. Smith and a force of boys are put
ting in the steam pipe from the power
house to the new bakery.
V AMERICAN
The sewing room giris finished the
small girls' dresses for Thanksgiving
and Miss Brown is pleased with them.
Mr. Westley and his garden boys are
now hauling the prunes from the drier
to the potato house for winter storage
and use.
Thbs. tiolden is going to work with
Mr. Bowen in the industrial department.
Thomas is going to learn how to take
care of roses and plant them.
Bessie Lahr is so interested in basket
ball that she wastes no time in her room
. after school but works. She is making
the suits for the basketball girls.
(jhemawa's campus is very much im
proved in appearance in the west side
but around the school, building ihere is
considerable room for some "landscape
gardening." : '
EXCELSIOR
The Excelsior Society held its regular
meeting last Thursday in room No. 5.
' he house was called to order by the
president. Roll was called. There were
some members a bsent. The minutes of
the previous meeting were read and
stood approved. Old business was call
ed for. The Constitution and By-Laws
were read and approved. Then the sub
ject "colors" was brought up which was
soon disposed of. New business was
then called for there being none Apis
(Jnudy was admitted as a new member.
Then came the program which was as
follows: Opening address, Tillie Souvig
ner; current events, Fortunato Jayme;
select reading, Laura Harnden; jokes,
Peter Seltice. .
As the business transactions took up
most of the evening it vvas necessary to
postpone the debate until the next
meeting. A motion was then made for
adjournment so the society then adjourn
ed. '
