Mrs. Theisz and her floor girls ha've
been busy during the past week setting
out flowers around McBride Hall.
Girls should be kind to all newcomers
and make things as pleasant as possible
for them. Show a kindly, hospitable
spirit.
Lizzie Frazier one of our '07 graduates
will by back in a few days to go to school
at the Willamettt University., but at
present she is visiting Mrs. AicClain
at Albany.
Ja nies Sloan, who is taking a university
course at the Willamette University has
secured a position with A. L. Harvey, of
Salem so as . to put in hi spare time
which is not devoted to his studies.
. The large elephant ears plant that has
occupied the porch of the assistant
superintendent's cottage has beer, moved
into Mr."CampbeIPs office this week and
is now occupying a prominent place by
the window.
There is going to be a big chicken pot
pie at the assistant superintendent's
cottage if the chickens are not given a,
new ro sting place. Tiny are verr pretty
chickens but the front lawn and pave
ments art; not exactly the places for
them. ;
Any one can tell that Mis- Hut
chinson is from the eas-t when she mis
took a large dead jack rabbit hanging on
the fence the morning after hallowe'en
for a fawn. She had Mr. Campbell
counting the deer and fawns in the deer
park all right.
We regret exceedingly to report the
serious illness of Philip Sooksoit, 'one of
our Warmspring boys. Philip was just
waiting ti go home when he was sudden
ly taken ill and has since been confined
to his bed in the hospital. Philip's many
friends at the school are constant in
their attention upon him.
Mr. Kirby was delighted at the pros
pect of his first night's sleep at Chemawa
mid the ' odoriferous firs and pines, but
awoke during the night only to find him
self almost suffocated with the delicate
scent of limburger (left in the bed pillow
by a hallowe'en imp.)
The Bible Study class has sixty five
members. The boys and girls have ho't
their own books and are very much in
terested in their new study. They meet
on Sunday afternoons from tlr ee to four
o'clock. Mr. Goudge of Salem leads.
Pupils are returning to school every
day. Those of the boys and girls who
are slow about coming back are missing
a great deal of valuable instruction.
Halloween parties were in evidence (in
hallowe'en night. .After the lecture
given by Prof. Mathesof the Stat" vur

for the pupils, one in Mrs, Newcomb's

in McBride Halt for the McBride Hull
girls and Mitchell Hall boys. Mr.Teaho
and band made the' round, playing a
couple of pices at each place. All enjoy
ed themselv.s and a pleasant evening
was spent.
