Companies A, B, and C went to Salem
on the Fourth.
Miss Frances Newcomb left on Mon
day for a visit with friends at Hood
River.
Mr. Enright and Ernest Brewer ac
companied the baseball team to Dallas
Wednesday.
The Chemawa band left f r Jackson
ville Wednesday morning; accompanied
by Supt. Chalcraft.
Mr. Swartz and doa: Trix had a mix
up on the Fourth and it took Miss Mill
er to sort them out.
Saturdav was a beautiful dav and the
Chemawa girls were out in full force
shopping in Salem.
Miss Skipton entertained a few of
Miss Lizzie Westly's friends in her room
on Tuesday evening.
Quite a number of Chemawa boys took
part in the comic parade which was held
in the after noon jesterday.
The girls who will take part in the
operatta at Commencement will soon be-
gin making their dresses.
Rev. Swanders of McMinnville while
attending the Conference .at Turner,
came over to Chemawa and spent a dav
with Mr. and Mrs. Cox.
Mrs. Williams of Chemawa and Mrs.
Rickman of Haysville were in Salem to
day. Miss Jones' cat left the commissary
through a hole in the window, the big
rats ran it out.
Miss Hutchinson is staying with Mrs.
Chalcraft and Alice several nights dur
ing the absence of Mr. Chalcraft unci
Pickering to Jacks nville.
There was a Snow storm followed, by
hail, which drifted 2 feet in some places
in Saiem. Chemawa is only five miles
away and yet cannot teil the same story.
Several Chemawa boys are working
for the Willamette Valley Traction Co.
in building the street car line between
' here and Portland.
The Y. M. C. A. girls gave an ice
cream sociable on Tuesday Evening.
The cream sold so fast that there was
not enough to supply all customers.
Every member of the employes Club
extend their hearty thanks to Miss La
tar for her excellent management of
her cafe during the month of June.
Mr. and Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Brewer,
Woods, dottier and Misses Troutman,
Miller, Bowman, Vaughn, l.eudke, John
ston, Brewer and Jones ecorted the girls
to the picnic at the river on the fourth.
Mr. Quenel and family were school
visitors.
Miss Miller is drying cherries and
blackberries for her home in Horse Hea
ven, Wash.
Paul Lafferty and Jos. McKay of
Grande Ronde, ex-pupils, were school
'visitors during the week.
Some of Miss- Gertrude Brewer's
music pupils and friends attended
the recital in Salem given" by Miss
Weller and assisted by Miss Brewer '
at the Presbyterian church on the even
ing of the 28th. ult.
