The boys have started to drill for
commencement.
Sam John is working in the dairy
ihouse for this week.
We are all looking foward for a jolly
good time the fourth of July.
The boys h&ve began to drill in the
mornings for the fourth of July.
The fifth and sixth grades are working
in the domestic science this week.
The best looking wreath made for the
band boys was" made by Annie Evans.
Did you hear the word "intellect" last
Sunday evening. If you did then use it.
. Mike Smith is one of the best tenor
singers we have in the choir, we all like
to hear him sing.
Last Friday the boys of the graduat
ing class went up to the tailor shop and
were measured for their graduating suits.
, The school building has been kalso
mined all over. The class rooms were
kalsomined cream and terra cotta, ceil
ing cream and the walls terra cotta, while '
the ceiling of the chapel was kalso
mined blue and walls grey stone..

The office and the water tower have
just been freshly painted.
Mrs. Mann and family left on, Mon
day for Polk County where -they will
camp for a time.
In repeating the golden text little
Josephine Harris said "when I see the
blood I will step over you. "
When asked why she was excused
from school early, little Stella Jarvis
said "Because I write better than the
rest of them."
The little birds that live in the trees
' on the north side of the White House
beat the rising call in the morning by
waking everybody up before the bugle
is sounded.
The band and the first base ball team
are scheduled to lav at Jacksonville,
Southern Oregon on the fourth.
Some of us hope we can spend the 4th
down the river again.
m Mr. Geo. Mudge, who has been employ
ed here as wagonmaker for several
months, has been appointed as carpent
er at Ft. Walla Walla, Wash, in the
Quartermaster's Department at an in
crease of salary.
Miss Ethelma Parrish is attending the
Capital Normal School. By studying
' this summer she hopes to cover one term
of geometry aud U. S. History, then she
will graduate from the Portland High
School with the Feb. '09 class, otherwise
she will not be able to finish the course
until June of the same year. Miss
Parrish was a former pupil of Chemawa
and we all feel proud of her successes,
