. Reuben Saunders made a short visit
last week to Siletz Oregon.
Tillie Souvigner expects to leave for
Cathlamet next Friday ' -
Robert Davis, waiter at the Mess Cafe,
is now taking Physical Culture.
Fortunato Jayme who is employed at
Gervais was a Chemawa visitor last
Sunday.
Alfred Lane better known as -"The.
Little one" or "Doc" caught a fine game
at Dallas last Saturday.
Philip Sorahan and Peter ( Casey are
great lovers of music; when the band
plays, overtures especially, they are in
their glory.
Adolph Farrow is practicing faithfully
under the instruction f Chas. Larsen,
on his new horn; Mr. Farrow expects to
join the band soon. He plays" the
Boom-er-ang. .
The class of '08 believes in equal suf
frage, for in their town meeting they
elected several girls for officers; the
constable for instance is an office held
by a young lady, and it has been shown -that
she is a good constable and an abln
officer. ;

Idaho that Chas. Lewis an ex-student is
now the owner of 80 acres of fine land
which he inherited, and in his great joy
he surprised his friends by announcing
his engagement, and is to be married
Aug. 15th. ; Chas. has a host of friends
here, and thru' the American we will
wish him success and happiness. .-'
The Band boys will have white suits
which are being made in Portland. They
will wear them during the parade in
which they will march at the head of
about two thousand school children. -
The members of the Mess Cafe are
taking their turns in cooking. The lady
members are now the ccoks, and next
week the gentlemen will show their
skill in the art of "cookeries" and the
way they turn slap jacks wont be slow.
Word was received from Jos. Seltice,
Chos. Payne and Paschal George that
they would be here as visitors of Che
mawa during 'the latter part of next
month to, attend the Commencement
exercises. These three young men are
ex-students, and are not only believers
of "giving . the Indian a while mans
chance," but tfyey are taking the white
man's chance,- and are prospering as well
as the majority of yynng men' could"
wish for, of their age-.
