Mr. Brewer left for the North Tuesday
on business for the school.

Joe Wiggins is hustling around get
ting his' foot-ball squad in action.
S" Wm. H. Lovelace, Engineer, resigned
'and his resignation was accepted.
Mr. George Lansing is employed tem
porarily until a dairyman is appointed.
The new washer and ,dhinfector is
in the laundry and ready to be installed.
The second team was defeated last
Saturday by the Union team by the
score of 35 to 0.
Mrs. Chalcraft, Miss Preuss, and Miss
Brewer .'attended the grand opera, "Pars
ifal," in Portland this week.
Mr. t-halcraft, during his recent trip
to the Sound, met a teller of a bank
who is an ex-pupil of Chemawa.
Paul Queachpalma last year's tackle
i:4 playing fullback for the Union team
this year. Paul's weight is 165.
Mr. Teabo sold his cornet to Edward
McClelland. It is a fine instrument
and Edward is going to learn to play on
it.
Mr. Henderson, Chcmiuva's Postmaster
spent a week in the nmmiiains hunting
deer. We are all looking for a slice of
venison.
.Some of the larger boys and girls do
not seem to like the taste of Cod Liver
Oil; strange isn't it? The little tots don't
seem to mind it.
. A letter from Silas Moon gives us the
news that'he is in Tacoma working at
his trade, blacksmithing, in the North
ern Pacific Car Shop!
We are sorry to learn that Victor
Johnson, who is attending Dartmouth
College is ill with typhoid fever. We
hope to hear of his speedy recovery.
The little deer is the pet of every one
.living in the northern part of the
grounds. It follows people around like
a dog and eats out of any one's hand.
If we take good care of ourselves, we
will not have to ask the doctor and
nurse to take care of us. A great deal
of our sickness is caused by willful care
lessness. Some ladies who went to town on
Saturday, .were caught in the heavy
shower on their way home and looked
about half drowned when they reached
home.
School is again in regular session with
a full force of employes. The work
of the Industrial departments is progress
ing and we hope they will soon come up
to the highest standard.
We had a deer hunt at Chemawa this
week. One of Chemawa's pet deer took
it into its head to roam around, the
country. A searching party soon found
it and returned it to the deer park.
On last Wednesday, Mr. Westley gave
the girls a treat by turning them loose
in the orchard and letting them get all
the apples that they could gather, and
clean up those that the gardeners had
missed in gathering. The girls certainly
did enjoy the apple feast.
