On Vacation.
The Chemawa employes spent their
vacations this summer as follows. There
may have been some others, but the
American scribe failed to get the news
Mrs. Doherty spent her vacation with
her sister in Seattle.
Mii3 Luedke reports having an enjoy
able time at the seaside at Newport.
Mr. and Mrs. Teabo spent their vaca
tion visiting friends at Grande Ronde.
The vacation period of Miss Johnston
was spent at her home in Gushing, Okla
with her parents.
Mr. Lovelace returned from an out
ing in southern Oregon where he camp
ed, fished and hunted.
Miss Dohse says that she gained many
pounds of flesh during her outing while
she was camping in Haysville.
Mrs. Campbell returned from her out
ing which was spent with her sons in
Spokane where they are in the news
paper business.
Miss Jones after taking a dip in the
briny deep at Newport spent the bal
ance of her vacation rusticating with
friends in the vicinity of Chemawa.
Miss Miller spent her vacation on her
farm in Hoise Heaven, Washington.
She says there is no place on earth like
Horse Heaven not excepting Chemawa.
Mrs. Cooper spent a very plesant time
with her children at Newport on Nye
Creek during the first part of her vaca
tion. The balance of the time she spent
in the country near Chemawa,
Miss Francis Bowman spent her vaca
tion enjoying the balmy breezes of Puget
Sound. She was at Bellingham, Tacoma
and with friends and relatives in Seattle
Mr. Brewer was with Mrs. Brewer
wrhile at the Narrows.
Mr. Putnam spent his vacation time
in the vicinity of Chemawa a little under
the weather.
Mr. and Mrs. Cox with their daughter
enjoyed their outing at M nmouth and
Dallas with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Beck had a very pleas
ant camping trip at Silver Creek Falls
although it was a little late for trout
fishing.
Mrs. Cloutier spent a part of her vaca
tion in Seattle with friends and the bal
ance of the time she was rusticating in
the vicinity of Chemawa.
Mrs. Newcomb has returned from the
sunny south where she spent her vaca
tion, sojourning at San Jose, Cal. where
she placed her daughter, Miss Francis
Newcomb, in the California State Nor
mal school.
Mrs. Brewer reports having had an
enjoyable time while at the Narrows on
Puget Sound where she spent part of
her vacation. The rest of the time she
spent at her home in Tacoma, and while
there she entertained Misses Miller,
Dohse and Mrs. Cloutier.
Mrs. Woods also enjoyed the briny
surf-bathing at Newport which is said to
be the best bathing on the Pacific' Coast.
The balance of her vacation she spent at
Portland. Her daughter, Miss Eva, was
with her at Newport. Mr. Woods spent
part of his vacation with his family at
Newport and the balance of the time he
was knocking around through the cities
of the Northwest, taking the trip down
the Columbia to Astoria.
Miss Mary Olive Skipton of Salem, has
been appointed Assistant Seamstress at
Chemnwn And is now on dntv.
