Fire crackers!
Warm weather is the cry. ,
Hurrah for the Fourth of July!
Some boys drilled without coats last
Monday evening.
The sixth grade were singing an In
dinn song Tuesday.
Miss Hollister the new nui'-.1. arrived
on Sunday morning.
Julian Fernandez, one of our printers,
is working in the mess yet.
The blacksmiths are all glad to see
Mr. Melson back in the shop again.
We are having exhibit work placed in
the main hall of the school building.
On Monday last the heat was very
great, it being 103 degrees in the shade.
John MeCush likes to handle the "pi."
John is n good pressman next to "Gloomy
Gus."
Mrs. Campbell told us about her first
day at school. The sixth grade pupils
enjoyed it.
The fourth grade pupils sung a few
songs on Monday morning which the
sixth grade enjoyed hearing.
Calvin Darnell who entered the sixth
grade recently is promoted to th seventh
grade. We wish him success.
Mr. Putnam was busy last Monday
putting up show-case and rack for vari
ous school room exhibit work.
Katie Henry and Odessa Dodson did
some good cleaning in the sixth grade
class-room on Tuesday morning.
The sixth grade enjoyed Miss Alice
Williams' talk last Monday when she
told us about her tirst dav at school.
The painters have completed the in
terior of the medium sized boys' home
and it will soon be ready for occupancy.
The new boys that Mr. Campbell
brought from Ca lifornia are getting along
tine. They say that they like it here at
Chemawa.
Captain John Smith of the athletes in
Mitchell Hall, room twenty-two, is put
ting his men in good condition, especial
ly George Williams.
The girls are busy sewing pretty gowns
for commencement, and from looks of
things some of our girls will appear very
neat during the great occasion.
Irene Peone of the sixth grade drew a
pretty map of the Panama Canal. On
Monday, she drew an artistic' mountain
scene on the blackboard.
Mrs. Campbell is kept busy practicing
with the choir who will take part- on
commencement. We are looking foward
to some excellent music.
The second tea m, with long honored
chain of scores have added another link
to their honors. We are proud of them
and hope they will keep the good workup.
THE PAINTERS well, when they
complain of anything there will be
"something doing" among the others.
We ha ve the coolest shop on the grounds
if our floors are dirty.
Tracy Beck the manager of the track
team in Mitchell Hall, room twenty
two is feeling very ill but his athletes
are doing well. Thomas Holden proved
himself the best in many ways.
A large number of girls accompanied
by their teachers, went into the raspber
ry patch. The girls who like raspberries
have found it more pleasant to stay at
home than to pick berries on such hot
