James McGee is able to walk around
again.
Our basket-ball teams are excellent
this year.
Lena As'hue is getting to be a good
dressmaker.
James French is doing fine in the
Fourth A class.
Maxim Barnaby is becoming a fine
player on his clarionet.
John Benson is making a very nice
table for the Y. M. C. A. hall.
All the tailor boys were glad to see
Walter Haight back in the shop again.
The Nonpareils hope to give an enter
tainment a week from next Thursday.
Katie Henry is working in the hospi
tal now, and she is learning to be a good
cook.
Silas Albert, a new pupil from Klam
ath will join the Chemawa band in a few
days.
The eighth B pupils are learning how
to invest their money in stocks and
bonds.
The carpenters are making new tables
for the dining hall. Each tables will
seat six. , '
Hurrah! the Albany basket-ball team
is asking our girls to show them how to
play ball.
Mr. Kaiser is putting a new pump in
the boiler room. It will be a great help
to the fireman.
We are all very glad to see Miss Amy
Bagnell from Portland, visiting her
friends at Chemawa.
We had a song service on Sunday
night. The pupils selected hymns and
the choir sang an anthem.
May Saylor returned to her home in
Washington, after being five years in
school at Chemawa, Oregon.
The boys that came from Hoopa Val-;
ley are over with their home sickness i
and are making themselves at home now. j
The sixth grade pupils have just got !
through reading about Longfellow's life. ;
Now they will read the life of Whittier.
A birthday party given by Mrs. Brewer :
for her daughter, Gertrude, was one of
the pleasant social events of the week.
The farmers are'beginning to plow up
the ball ground which is to be leveled
off. We may look forward to a good
ball ground.
It is no wonder Tillie Souvigner is
called "expert" by the little boys, for
the way she played last Friday made
the big ones call her "expert."
If you want to hear good stories, go
to Grover Colby and Orin French.
They generally have their meetings on
Sundays by the school building.
Last Sunday the McBride Hall girls
received a letter from Mr. and Mrs.
Foster. Mrs. Foster says she is very
happy and likes her father-in-law very
much.
The pupils of the sixth grade are
studying on the progress of man from
the savage state to the civilized stage.
It is needless to say that they enjoy it
very much.
Last Saturday evening our first team
basket-ball boys went to Woodburn and
played the Woodburn team,. ; The Che
mawa team won and the score was said
to be 35 to 26.'
The Tailors and Harness-makers play
ed a game of basket-ball last Monday
evening. The Harness-makers were de
feated by the almighty Tailors, the score
being 21 to 2 in favor of the tailors.
