Henry Dillstrom is making a set of
single dray harness.
Ignatius Bart is working on a set of
extra heavy harness.
William Moore a new pnpil . is doing
good work in the tailor shop.
Philip Sorahan has returned to his
trade in the tailor shop after a visit home.
George Scott has been advanced to the
cutting department of the tailor shop.
Elmer Sorahan and IgnatiusBart made
a fine hackamore in the harness shop
last week.
Mr. Philips has completed putting
new . gutters on the medium sized boys
home B.L.
The tailor boys have completed union
suits for the little boys of Mrs.Newcomb's
department.
Louie Lamoose who has just entered
the harness shop, is working on a pair of
team bridles. "
John Boyce has just finished a set- of
' back bands for a set of harness. John is
a good worker
Maxime Barnaby has been appointed
reporter in the harness shop for ihe
month of January.
We "are getting along fine with our
repair work in the engine room which we
for some time have been doing..
Clarence ..Bard well is making good
progress at his trade this week he made
his first. pair of long trousers and Mr.
Beck states that they were very neatly
made.
Philip Warren made himself a neat
nailbox for use in the carpenter shop.
.Grover Colby has finished this week a
number of neat looking tables for use in
the boys' building.
The engineers have had a nasty piece
of work for several days past repairing
the sewer leading from the engine room.
Mr. Trester, the house-mover, is now
at work moving the Gymnasium to its
new location on the North side of the
school grounds.
The painters have about finished
painting 'the room over the back oflice
which will lie used for the meetings of
the Y. M. C. A. boys.
Mr. Mudge and a force of carpentry
boys are busy making some improve
ments in the Commissary, which will
increase the shelving capacity of the
same.
The tailor boys are fighting hard for
the prize offered by Mr. Beck for the best
worker in the phop. There will be two
divisions and a prize is offered to each
division. George Scott, Leon Rankin,
Philip Sorahan, each say they will come
out second best, and Gideon Hanbury if
he will be defeated it will not be fi r lack
of neatness. The' contest opens next
Monday and every boy of both division
is anxious to win. The1 American will
watch this contest with interest and trust
that other departments will follow the
example. . ,
Pendleton, Ore., Jan. 8, Skalloo, one
of tne oldest, and most pictureque Indian
character on the Umatilla reservation,
died yesterday morning and will lie
buried in the Agency cemetery today in
accordance the ancient Indian custom.
His exact age is unknown, but it is sup
posed to be somewhere in the neighbor
hood of 100 years.
