The Committee Belected by the Institute,
which met at Tacoma last AugUBt, met at
Chemawa Jan. 28, 1902, and coucluded to
get an expression from the workers in the
field before coming to a decision. Accord
ingly the following letter was sent to all the
employee) of tbe Fourth District.

The committee having iu charge the se
lection of a location for the Summer Insti
tute to be held In the Fourth district includ
ing the states of Washington, Oregon,
Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, desire an
expression ol opinion from the workers in
the field, on or before Feb. 18, 1902, before
fixing definately the place of meeting.
Upon receipt of this letter please notify
the Secretary of the committee, Mr. W. P.
Campbell, Chemawa, Ore. Your choice
of the following locations forthe InRtiiute:
Chemawa, Ore , Newport, Ore., Pendleton,
Ore., Spokane, Wash, and Seattle, Wash.
Special rates can probably be secured to
all of these placdn, ami board and lodging
will be reasonable. The particular iuducj
meuts offered by ear:h of the above named
places are:
Chemawa, Ore., the location of the
largest Indian school on the coast, near
Ha I em, the capital of the slate.
Newport, Ore., on the sea shore, tine
bthing, ban large auditorium, a Bummer
sahuoi will be held there by faculty of the
Oregon Agricultural College, and other
Doted teachers. Spokane, WhsIi., accessi
bility to people or Idaho and Montana.
Seal He, Wash., the metropolis of the
north-west centml of the Puget Bound
country.
Pendleton, Ore. Convenient to employes
of Eastern Oregon, and Wash., and of
Idaho.

that receives the most number of votes
from employes in the Fourth district.

arranged Kitchen. Mrs. Hilb.tbepreBiding
genius directing four pretty, clever girl,
who were as neat and olean as their kitch
en, and that Is saying a great deal.
These young cooks wore becoming white
caps, and spotless aprons. Everybody
was quietly busy, and that is such a com
fortable way. to be busy. They all had
time to give a courteous and cordial "how
do you do?" to the visitor and then Mrs.
Hilb In her usual hearty manner explain!
to the delighted guest how so much excel
lent food was prepared with so Utile labor
aud fuss. "It all Ilea in the managing"
snid Mrs. Hilband it surely must he so.
The dinner which was dished mid served
while the visitor was there was mRt ex
cel lent. Juicy roast beef with retd nh
brown gravy not any of your pasty atufT,
but good pretty brown gravy. Potato putts,
(one of the girls attended to those while
the visitor was In the kitchen). Sweet
potatoes browned, just like they do them
back In Pennsylvania. Stewed tnmatnes
delicioua looking bin, puffy biscuit, and
apple pie such apple pie! Then, of course,
there was good brad, butter and coffee,
and when all this wb arranged on the
clean white tablecloth, the visitor's apne
tlte became so uncontrollable that she was
obliged to say good bye to Mrs, HHbanrt
make a bee-line for her own dining-room,
The hospital boys and girls will Burvly
gain health, strength and happing
under its present able management.
