The resolutions were prepared by a committee appointed at the meeting of the club held on Satur day evening last, and will be published in the several papers represented by the organization. The following were the res olutions. "Resolved, by the Salem Press Club that on the death of Elijah Brown, late editor of the Chernawa American, we have lost a faithful member who was an honor and an ornament to the profession. Being the first woman to be appointed to snch a position she was greatly handicapped at the beginning of her reign by prejudice. Politicans did not favor her appointment she took a place that had belonged to them. Many a po litical debt has been paid in the past by this very position.
