p raises of the tre a tm e n t received. T h e alum ni and the high
school stu d e n ts both w orked h ard for th e e n te rta in m e n t of
th e club d u rin g th e ir sta y s in th e v arious tow ns.
D oes th e trip pay as an a d v e rtise m e n t to the U n iv e rsity ?
O ne only needs to see the g re a t in te re st tak en , in the various
tow ns, to be convinced th a t th ere is no b e tte r w a y -to ad v er­
tis e the U n iv e rsity of O regon th an by th is m ethod. E specially
in th e high schools, from w hich the m ost stu d e n ts are ob ­
tained, th ere seem ed to be a keen in te re st in the college and
its w ork. “ I ’m com ing to E u g en e n ex t y e a r,” w as a com m on
expression heard in every to w n and in all p ro b ab ility the
Glee Club visit fixed th e d e te rm in a tio n on th a t point.

w eighed sev en ty pounds. Jo h n w as the oldest and
sm a lle st; G eorge nex t to th e oldest and ju s t a size
b ig g er th a n J o h n ; Jim w as the y o u n g e st and b ig ­
gest. E x c e p tin g th is m a tte r of size and th e fact
th a t Jo h n w as bow -legged, th ey w ere precisely alike. T h ere
w as no difference in th e ir m orals, or th eir clothes.
N obody w as ever m ore fond of n a tu re th an these boys
w ere. T h e y liked th e w oods b e tte r th a n th e ir team of horses
o r th e ir m o th e r or th e ir ow n m eals even, for if no one else
w atered them , “old Bill and M a g ” stood th irs ty in th e ir s ta lls ;
