P rospects for a victorious football
season for the U niversity are at the
present tim e n eith er brilliant nor d is
couraging.
\\ hile ( )regon lost a num ber of
sta rs by g rad u atio n and ineligibility
and failure to re tu rn to college, includ

The squad is the largest in the his

Coach F orbes has not put the men
through any scrim m age work, but will
begin that feature the first of this week.
A m ong the new men who are sh ow ing
up well are Main and Michel from Lick
High School, San F ran cisco ; and Lat-
o u rette. Gilles, ex- 10, w ho played on
the varsity year before last, has re tu rn
ed to college and will m ake a valuable
addition to the squad.

charge of the freshm an squad which is
m ade up of at least th irty players. M an
ager M cEw en has had Kincaid Field
covered with saw dust so that reg u lar
practice can be indulged in w ithout too
