COLLEGE
RALLY
Ever Held at the University of Ore
gon Took Place Last W ednes
day Evening
The U niversity of <Iregon has known
some great rallies, but the m eeting on
the starlit field W ednesday evening, a
few hours after victory was assured,
was undoubtedly the happiest occasion
in its annals. The details are now a
m atter of history; loyal sym pathizers
everyw here have read of the line of
march, the hilarious cheers for every
body in the calendar, the inspired
speeches, the flash of Roman candles,
the whirl of blazing pin wheels, and the
blaze of the bonfire, all dom inated by
the echoing songs of the great m ulti
tude which had waited for that hour.
The women o f the U niversity had a
pretty part in the evetting's delight of
cheer and color. Just after sunset each
carried a glow ing Japanese lantern
across the campus, a procession which
wound among the trees and entered
Kincaid field in a stately line.
