ence listened to th e lecture, which was
full of helpful su g g estio n s. M r. A dam s
spoke from the tex t, R om ans 12:7, em ­
p h asizin g the phase of “ reasonable ser-
vice.
“T h is b ein g the age of reason,” said
the speaker, “ev ery th in g , even C h risti­
anity, is closely scrutinized. B ut the
m ost careful stu d y only serves to em ­
phasize the fact th a t C h rist asks n o th ­
ing u n reaso n ab le from those th at fol-
iow him .
“ W e have tw o n atu res, the spiritual
and the physical. B oth are to be de­
veloped ; n eith er should grow at the
expense of th e o th er. As P aul says,
we are to p resen t o u r bodies ‘a living
sacrifice' and fu rth e r to be ‘tra n s ­
form ed by the renew al of th e m ind.'
W e are G o d ’s, ‘b o u g h t w ith a price,’
and should be subject to his will. T he
Bible is o u r best guide. O u r work
should be done w ith an eye single to
G od’s glory. T h e service of C hrist is
a reasonable service. Let us do it un­
g ru d g in g ly and because we ow e it.”
