A good number of the Philologians
met last Saturday evening and held a
meeting. The regular program was
suspended in order to let the Fresh
men team get some practice in prepara
tion for their Laurean opponents. One
feature of the regular program, how
ever, was a prepared address. Mr.
Deva took a religious subject, “Did
Christ come into the world to save
sinners?'' The speaker being a native
of India naturally has different ideas
on this subject from Americans. He
said, among other things, that we were
too dependent in spiritual matters,
that we were ready to accept the eas
iest solution of our salvation, that
C hrist’s coming into the world to save
sinners was such an easy solution,
therefore we accepted it.

of Mrs. Stafford on Eleventh St. Each
afternoon about twenty-five ladies

versation. The house was very pret
tily decorated in cut flowers. In the
dining room a delicious luncheon was
served by the hostesses, assisted by
Miss Edith Woodcock, Miss Con
stance Covel 1 and Miss Helen Beach.
W ednesday afternoon Miss Miriam
Van W aters entertained a few of her
friends in honor of Miss Alice Mc-
Cormac, of Marshfield, who was visit
ing her. The affair was very informal
but every one enjoyed meeting again
