My Background
I have been employed at Oregon State Hospital for 19 years. I have been a
District Director and member of the OPEU Board of Directors for four years. I’ve been
an active member of the CAPE board for about eight years. I am treasurer and a stew
ard for local 392.1 have been chair of the Steward’s Committee. I have also been a
member of the union’s Internet Committee. My experience on CAPE and board gives
me knowledge of our union’s priorities and direction. These offices have provided me
with the experience to take on this task. I have participated in local, legislative and
ballot campaigns. As a result, I am familiar with campaign expenditure laws and
reporting requirements.
Local 392’s fiscal strength has increased during my term. Our frugality has
given us the resources to represent our member’s interests and develop an effective
local.
I have been an activist for eleven years. During that time, I have participated in many
marches and rallies. Among them are the ‘95 Strike March, the UFW rally in San Jose
and the WTO march in Seattle.
My supporters
Our current president, previous presidents, and our immediate past secretary-treasurer,
many other state and local leaders and activists support me. I want to ensure that we
continue to provide good services to our members and reach out to those that want and
need our assistance organizing their work sites, especially the Home Care workers of
this state.
