Why I’m Running
My goal is to continue to build our fiscal strength to
fight our enemies. If we don’t have enough resources, we
can’t effectively get out our message. The biggest challenge we face is “Paycheck
deception” as proposed by Sizemore. These measures would gut our ability to function
effectively as a statewide union. It would force us to focus on constantly collecting
money locally to run the union. The job of treasurer would be much more difficult and
time consuming. The organization would have to devote much of its time to collecting
the funds necessary to oppose future ballot measures. We can beat Sizemore and his
cronies, but we need to have a sufficient war chest to do it decisively.
If we win we continue as we are operating now. We will be able to organize other
industries. If we lose we are faced with changing the duties of our field representatives
and our local activists. This also means a much busier Secretary-Treasurer. The best
way to win is to turn out our membership in the November election. We will do this by
making certain that we have accurate contact lists of our members.
To the best of my knowledge, I am the only candidate to submit his/her entire
nomination form and picture electronically. I want to carry our internal operations
forward into the new century. We must know and use the available technology. This
requires someone comfortable with rapid change.
