    Nominations Opened
for Local 99 Leadership Positions
Nominations are open for
leadership positions within the
Homecare Workers Local 99, (SEIU
Local 503, OPEU) and will close on
Monday, March 27,2006 at 5:00 p.m.
Newly elected leaders will take
office by May 1,2006 and will serve
a two year term. Nomination forms
can be requested from any
Homecare Organizer (see Call your
Organizer on Page 2) or you can
access the forms on our web site at
www.seiu503.org.
Duties of the elected officers are:
President
Presides over meetings of the
Homecare Council; sets the agenda
for Council meetings; chief
spokesperson for the local;
Represents Homecare Local at
national, local and coalition meetings,
assists in development of Local 99's
communication system; coordinates
and assists Homecare Council
Directors.
Vice-President
In the absence or upon request of
the President, performs the duties of
the President-replaces the President
for any unexpired term of office;
Assists in the development of the
Homecare Council's internal struc­
ture to support political action and
organizing within the Local.
Homecare Council
Directors
(Two for each of the 6 Districts
within SEIU Local 503. See
footnote for reference on what
SEIU Local district you live or work
in.) Assist members; participates in
Homecare Local meetings; assists
in political action in the district
and at the State Capitol; recruits
homecare workers into our union
and in communications within the
district; represents homecare
workers at local district meetings.
Secretary-Treasu rer
Keep records of Homecare Council
meetings; maintains financial
records; disburses local fund; assists
in development of Homecare
Council to support political action
and organizing.
Statewide Chief Steward**:
Recruits and develops new stewards,
chairs homecare stewards committee,
tracks grievances, assists stewards,
promotes training opportunities,
participates in labor/management
meetings as necessary, voting
member of the Homecare Council.
Homecare Assistant
Council Directors
(Two for each of the 6 Districts
within SEIU Local 503's geographic
districts). Assists Homecare
Council Directors in carrying out
their duties; at the request of the
district director, serves in their
absence; coordinate district
communications.
