Who is on the Homecare Commission?
A. Measure 99 calls for a nine member Homecare Commission.
Five of those commissioners
must be either current or previous consumers of homecare services. Four commissioners will
represent the Governor’s Commission on Senior Services, the Disabilities Commission, Senior
and Disabled Services Division and the Oregon Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities.
Q:
How does someone who is interested in being on the Commission
apply?
A. For the five positions filled by consumers, applications can be made to the Governors
Appointments, 160 State Capitol, Salem, Or 97310. Phone 503-378-3123, or contact Karla
Spence at 800-452-2146 x 129 for an application. The other foúr appointments are made by
recommendations from the agencies listed above.
Q.
Who decides who gets to serve on the Homecare Commission?
A. The Governor appoints all nine of the commissioners, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
His recommendations will first go to the Senate Rulés Committee, where candidates will be
given an opportunity to testify before the Rules Committee about their qualifications for the
Commission. The Rules Committee will then forward their recommendations to the full
Senate to vote to confirm the Homecare Commissioners.
