OFFICE? I have been a Member
Activist for about 16 years. 1 have been a
District Director for District 3 North and
State-Wide Vice President. I have been a Steward for 14 years.
I was active in 2 State Worker Strikes. I was on the Central v
Bargaining Team and am now a member of OCWCOG
Bargaining Team. But my most important qualification is that I
have been an activist in State Agencies and in Local
Government I have been in one of the largest locals and am
now in one of the smallest locals. This diversity will assist me
in representing all members of my district on the Board of
Directors. ' : ■

Case Manager for Disability Services in Lincoln County I
worked for the successful campaign to organize Home Care
Workers in Oregon.
WHY ARE YOU SEEKING THIS OFFICE AND WHAT
ARE YOUR GOALS FOR SEIU LOCAL 503, OPEU
DURING YOUR TERM? To successfully bargain the first
contract for Honte Care Workers. We also need to find a way
to integrate thousands of Home Care Workers into our Union.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR YOUR DISTRICT?
(would like to see even more members involved in the district
so there can be improved understanding between locals of the
issues we have in common. We need to better define what it
means to hold politicians accountable and then follow through.

WHAT IS TH E BIGGEST SINGLE ISSUE T H E UNION
W ILL FACE DURING YOUR TERM AND HOW OULD
YOU PROPOSE TO RESOLVE IT? The cost of medical
care. The members of my local are now paying $1,000.00
(Single) up to $3,000.00 deductibles before there fe any
coverage - this includes paying full price for medications. This
is a worst case scenario for a small local hut it is what PEBB
members will also have to face if nothing is done. Our Union is
now ready to take this issue on. This means taking Pharmaceu
tical Companies and the powerful Insurance Companies. The
NSUP Health Care Committee is meeting and developing a
strategy. I am a member of that committee. We will need a
grass roots campaign that uses new and creative ways to affect
change.

are health care and state budget shortfalls A new tax system
needs to be incorporated for Oregon. State Legislators need
to be elected that are willing to restructure the tax system.
