Major Motions of May
OPEÜ Board Meeting
The following are the major
motions acted upon at the regular
meeting of the OPEU Board of Direc

That the cost of District elections in
1981 be paid by those Districts
effected, with the effected Districts
having the responsibility for billing
the Locals within their District for
reimbursement.
Endorsed Button Day, Member

Deferred Compensation
Plan for state
employees.
Ifyou're a state employee,
we offer an appetizing
retirement program that
allows you to sock away up
to $7,500— or 15% of your
gross annual income—
and defer income taxes
until the funds are with
drawn. Here’s how it works:
You decide how m uch you
want to put away each
month. We’ll take care
of placing it in a Benj.
Franklin Certificate
of Deposit account.
You’ll earn 11.5%, and
income taxes applicable
to your interest are also
deferred.
It’s a great way to save
for the future, because the
amount withheld from your
regular paycheck isn’t con
sidered current income for
federal or state tax pur
poses. So when you take it
out upon retirement, you’ll
probably be in a lower
tax bracket. That m eans
m ore goes to you and less
to the IRS.
Don’t wait. The current
enrollment period for State
of Oregon employees ends
June 30th. So visit The Benj.

That the Employe Benefits Com

That the Board of Directors author

by the Asst. Dist. Directors to attend
the 1981 General Council and that
such payment shall be made in the
same manner as a regular Board
member, and that the Asst. Dist.
Director be allowed to serve in the
absence of their Dist. Directors on the
floor of General Council.
That the Board members outside
District 2 have a subscription to the
Salem Statesman-Journal mailed to
them during legislative months.
That the chairperson of the
Employe Representation Committee

BURC persons not present at the May
9, 1981 BURC Conference reminding
them of their responsibilities and
obligations during the bargaining
period.
