Chapter News District One SUCCESS CHAPTER 30 Presi dent Don Martin has appointed Andrew Huckfeldt as the . chapter's press correspondent and Warren Stevens as its in surance representative. He also appointed 15 group representa tives to serve OSEA members working in various sections of the Employment Division in Portland. C O LUM BIA CHAPTER 34 members were given a report on the activities of OSEA's 1969 General Council by Presi dent Wyatt Starr at the Dec. 14 meeting in Portland. Chapter m em bers voted to ratify amendments to thé associ ation's constitution adopted by c o n v e n tio n delegates in November. CONSOLIDATED CHAPTER 61, at its Dec. 18 meeting, voted to contribute $50 to purchase g ift packages for servicemen in Vietnam, and $25 to the Kidney Fund in memory of the late Max M. Manchester, former chapter member and executive secre tary of the Public Employees' R e t ir e m e n t S ystem . In addition, $100 was given to an "illn e ss fu n d " for Phyllis Foster. The chapter voted to pay $5.00 to th e m em ber w h o e n rolls th e m o s t new m em bers betw een Dec. 1 and F eb. 2 8 . N.W. O R E G O N F O R E S T R Y CHAPTER 76 President Bob Meadows gave a report on OSEA's 1969 General Council at the Dec. 3 meeting in Forest Grove. Chapter members voted to ratify five of the six amendments to the associ ation's constitution approved b y council delegates. The amendment creating an office of Director o f Institutions on OSEA's Board o f Directors was turned down. District T wo CONPENSATION CHAPTER 20 members heard a detailed explanation of the new PERS variable annuity program from staff member Everett B. Stiles at the Dec. 9 meeting in Salem. He also outlined the options available to PERS members upon retirement. The chapter's next meeting w ill be Jan. 13. P U T N A M -S T E P H E N S CHAPTER 23 ratified all six amendments to OSEA's consti tution at its Dec. 16 meeting. President Donna Bleiler intro duced nominees for the chapter's Employee of the Year award: Allan R. Erickson, Vocational Rehabilitation; Mrs. Margaret Palmer, State Library; and George Katagiri, Board of E d u c a tio n . K a ta g iri was selected for the award by the chapter's Award Committee. Chapter members voted to contribute $100 to the Sal vation Arm y Christmas Fund. The next meeting w ill be held Jan. 13 in the State Library conference room. V A F A CHAPTER 69 President Blessing Proctor invited In surance Manager Donald G. Olds to speak at the Nov. 20 meeting in Salem. He outlined OSEA's decision to return some $72,000 in accumulated premiums to 5,500 members who were insured under the OSEA-Standard life insurance pla n from July 1, 1968 through June 30, 1969. She resigned from office due to illness. Delegate Lawrence R. Jones gave a report on the resolutions acted upon by the General Council. Following his report, new chapter officers were installed by District Seven D ire c to r Earl Warzynski. Besides Ryan; they are Lloyd McGlin, president, and Carl Stratton, vice-president. ASTORIA CHAPTER 8 held a dinner meeting for members and their families Dec. 12. Over 180 attended. Chapter members ratified all six pro posed amendments to OSEA's constitution. Delegates Chester Reed and Ray Karpen gave a report on the activities of the 1969 General C o u n cil. ROSEBURG CHAPTER 2 members voted to contribute $42.00 to the Oregon State Flag Fund at its last meeting. "T h e re are no conditions attached," President Roy Beltz said in his letter to Secretary of State Clay Myers, who admini sters the fund. "We request only that the first six requests from an overseas serviceman or woman received by your office be honored. We hope that this w ill show in some small way our respect fo r them ," Beltz said. C h a p te r m em bers brought hot dishes, salads and desserts. The chapters also pro vided candy fo r the children, a turkey and ham drawing and entertainment. District Five BAKER CHAPTER 37 held its annual Christmas potluck dinner for chapter members and their families Dec. 21 at St. Francis Church in Baker. Santa Claus paid a surprise visit to the children during dinner. Entertainment was provided by Puppeteer Leona Fleetwood. C h a p te r members brought canned goods to the dinner fo r distribution to needy families in the Baker area. District Six CORVALLIS CHAPTER 29 has selected its chapter Employee o f the Year for 1969. He is William J. Jiral, a painter fo r Oregon State Uni v e rs ity 's p h y s ic a l pla nt. Chapter 29 again this year collected canned goods for distribution to needy families in the Corvallis area during Chirstmas. EU LAN E CHAPTER 40 ratified all six amendments to F A IR V IE W CHAPTER 57 postponed its regular business at its Dec. 9 meeting to hear an explanation of the new PERS variable annuity program from William Boers, a member of Consolidated Chapter 61 in Portland. A question and answer period followed his talk. The next meeting w ill be held Jan. 13 in the physical r e h a b ilita tio n building at Fairview Hospital and Training Center. DAMMASCH CHAPTER 95 invited OSEA President Jerry Liebertz to be its guest speaker at its Dec. 4 meeting. He dis cussed OSEA's dues increase and the new PERS variable annuity program. The next meeting w ill be held Jan. 15 in the multi-purpose building at Dammasch State Hospital. OSEA Vice-President Floyd Baxter w ill be guest speaker.
