X UNIVERSITY T.B. CHAPTER 54 invited District One Di rector Beth Brandes to its Nov. 14 meeting to install the newly elected officers. Irvin at last month's meeting. They are Virginia Parkinson, president; George Grady, vice-president; Debra Burcham, secretary; and Nancy Doughton,* treasurer. Chapter members voted to contribute $ 1 5 0 to OSEA's 1970-71 scholarship fund. GRAIN DIVISION CHAPTER 62 members voted not to accept a proposed amendment to O S E A 's o v e rtim e c o n tra c t w ith th e G rain D iv is io n a t th e Nov. 12 meeting in Portland. It was proposed by the Depart ment o f Agriculture. Attending the meeting was staff member Everett Stiles, Rep. Richard Groener (D-Milwaukie), and Ben Allen and Lloyd G riffiths from the Department o f Agri- cutlture. V IK IN G CHAPTER 81 invited staff member Harry C. Ward to install its new officers at last month's meeting in Portland. They are C lifford J. Wolf, president; Orlin Fitzgerald, vice-president; Eleanor Cook, corresponding secretary, Helen H ilsenteger, treasurer; and Dorothy Fay, recording secre tary. Ward presented outgoing President Joe Boyarsky with OSEA's past-presient's pin. JACKSON PARK CHAPTER 90's newly elected officers were installed by staff member Harry C. Ward at a recent meeting. Dan Gallup was named Chairman of the Membership Committee. V ikki Hill assumed his duties as Program Committee Chairman. Nellie Riggs w ill serve another year as group representative. CORVALLIS CHAPTER 29 members voted to contribute $300 to OSEA's 1979-71 scholarship fund at the last meeting. District Two OREGON CHAPTER 22 mem bers heard a. report on the activities o f the 1969 General Council from Delegate Libby Leonard at the Nov. 20 meeting. Two other chapter members— Joe Doerfler and Helen Nelson— attended the convention as delegates, and Jack Dawson served as alternate delegate. P U T N A M -S T E P H E N S CHAPTER 23 heard an expla nation o f the new PERS vari able annuity program from staff member Everett Stiles at its Nov. 18 meeting. Chapter members directed President Donna Bleiler to w rite a letter to Floyd Gould, legislative fis cal officer, on behalf o f the chapter, protesting any use o f mid-biennium salary money to cover the apparent deficit in welfare funds. District Three R OSEBURG CHAPTER 2 Delegates Pat Gregory and Les Gottsch gave a report on the 1969 General Council at the PENDLETON CHAPTER 52 installed its new officers at last month's meeting. OCE CHAPTER 43 invited Floyd Baxter, OSEA's vice- president, to install its newly elected officers at its last meeting. They are Dr. Ernie Cummins, president; and Mary Dahl, secretary. The remaining officers, who were unable to attend, w ill be installed by Cummins at a later date. CRATER LAKE CHAPTER 16 members were given a detailed explanation of OSEA's new B lu e Cross major-medical g ro u p insurance plan by Donald G. Olds, insurance manager, at the Nov. 12 m e e tin g . V A F A CHAPTER 69 President Blessing Proctor has appointed an Awards Committee to select the chapter's 1969 "Employee of the Year." The committee is composed o f Marion Koppang, Vesta McRae and Ed Taggart. Chapter members voted to "sponsor" 10 foster children during the Christmas season at a cost of $7.00 per child. The program is under the direction of the Marion County Public Welfare Commission. P re s id e n t W ill Robertson. Special recognition was given to the retired members in attendance, and to Joe G riffin and Peggy Mayfield, the last tw o members to retire from many years of dedicated ser vice to OSEA. About 90 mem bers and their families attended the dinner. S IS K IY O U CHAPTER 84 members heard a discussion of collective bargaining between OSEA and Southern Oregon College from staff member C. D. Johansen at a recent meeting. He also outlined other activities being undertaken by the association on behalf of the membership. A question and answer period followed his talk. President Harold Johnson has appointed the following committee to make arrange ments for the chapter's annual Christmas party: Lucille Mc Kay, Darlene Clawson, Irene Laird, Gloria Westgaard, M il dred McNeel and Nyla Gross. CURRY CHAPTER 93 mem bers reviewed General Council resolutions w ith Delegate A l fred K. Smith at last month's meeting. Installation of new officers was posponed until the December meeting due to the absence of new President James B. Zib. District Four CENTRAL OREGON CHAPTER 4 held its annual dinner for chapter members in Bend on Nov. 21. A fte r dinner a short business meeting was held. It was conducted by S to u t, p r e s id e n t; M a r g a r e t T u rn e r, vice - president; Dorothy Bird, secre ta ry; and Evelyn O'Brien, tre a s u re r. Chapter members voted to purchase tw o lawn swings fo r patients at Eastern Oregon Hospital and Training Center. They w ill be installed next spring. SACAJAWEA CHAPTER 73 was given a report on OSEA's 1969 General Council by Virginia Shadwick, its delegate, at the Nov. 18 meeting in La G rande. Tom McCall protesting any use of mid-biennium salary money to cover welfare deficits. BLUE MOUNTAIN CHAPTER 94 President Gerald Boyd ou t lined the resolutions adopted by the 1969 General Council. He also appointed Bill Cogswell as chairman o f the Chapter's annual Christmas party. EULANE CHAPTER 40 de voted its last meeting to a discussion o f General Council re so lu tio n s w ith Delegates John Michaud and George Darland. Because of the num ber of resolutions to be studied, all other business was postponed until the December meeting. District Eight ASTORIA CHAPTER 8, at its Nov. 6 meeting, voted to com bine the report o f its General Council delegates with its annual Christmas party at the December meeting/ It w ill be held Dec. 13. District Nine EVERGREEN CHAPTER 28 heard a report on OSEA's 1969 General Council from its four- member delegation at the Nov. 12 meeting. As a Christmas g ift t o p a tie n ts a t t h e O r e g o n S t a t e H ospital, chapter . members voted to contribute $200 to purchase an alter and other material fo r the hospital's new chapel. The chapter voted to change its m onthly meeting dates from the second Wednes day to the first Tuesday. WOODBURN CHAPTER 45 members were briefed on the activities of the Oregon Em ployees Federal Credit Union by Don Peer, OEFCU repre sentative. Peer said the credit union is currently paying 5.25 per cent on savings accounts. S ta ff member Donald A. Beninger was a guest at the meeting.
