Tuberculosis
Chest X-Ray
(Continued From Page 13)
1417 were scheduled to return to the
Marion county retake center for a
14x17 film. 528 of the 1417 called for
retake films were referred to their pri
vate physician for a chest condition
demanding medical attention. At the
present time figures are not available
as to the actual number of tubercu
losis cases found and so diagnosed.
Such figures, on a county basis, cannot
actually be determined at this early
date, however, from records of pre
vious surveys it can be assumed gl
of the retakes will be negative, %
will be old tuberculosis lesions which
have healed, and % will require medi
cal attention.
Valley statistics to September 21,
1951 discloses a total of 169,059 per
sons have been X-rayed. 3.4% of this
number or approximately 5748 have
been asked to return to the retake
centers for 14x17 films. Of the sus
pected cases of tuberculosis, the total
of which has not been determined,
it can be disclosed fairly accurately
that percentage wise the following will
result: 66.6% will be minimal cases,
28% moderately advanced, 2.9% for
advanced, and 2.59§r unclassified con
ditions.
Of the eight counties participating
in the valley wide project, Polk, Yam
hill, Linn and Marion counties have
completed their programs with the
exception of a mobile u n it’ or two
scheduled to return to the counties
for the purpose of X-raying students
returning to colleges in the respective
counties. Benton, Clackamas, Wash
ington and Lane counties are now well
started in their survey programs.
